About Us

Dr Carina Kemp is an advisor on all things data to help an organisation on their digital transformation journey to innovate and get the most out of their data. She can help your organisation determine the outcomes you are trying to achieve and help you leverage both your data, open data and data technologies to get you there.

In a 20-year career, Dr Kemp has always strived to enable research and innovation working for higher ed, industry, government and NGOS. Her interests include open data, data science, machine learning and AI, high-performance computing, communication of science, improving collaboration across science and information technology disciplines, and encouraging leadership and women in science

Dr Kemp works closely with partners across the data, digital and innovation communities.

Carina’s Experience

At AARNet Dr Kemp, as the Director of eResearch, led Research Cloud Services enabling researchers with tools and advice for all their data and digital infrastructure needs. Carina’s team focused on the data lifecycle and how to build infrastructure to enable researchers to get the most out of their data. This included building both secure and open distributed research data platforms.

At Geoscience Australia, Dr Kemp, provided scientific and digital leadership. At GA, Dr Kemp led the development of the organisations first Data Strategy. She led the development of virtual laboratories and high-performance computing to enable insights from the organisations data as well as pre-competitive dataset delivery.

As a geophysicist, Dr Kemp worked on the cutting edge of mineral exploration technology and methods. She developed data-science software and methods to decrease the risk in high value mineral deposits. She did this through working in and with research and industry.
